Dr Adriana Martinez-Peña grew up in Matamoros, Mexico and attended school in Brownsville, Texas. At a very young age she demonstrated a passion and love towards animals making her want to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors and Masters in Biomedical Science. She then attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine for her doctorate degree where she focused on small animal medicine. In 2019 she graduated veterinary school and began working as a small animal veterinarian in Columbus, Ohio focusing on small animal soft tissue surgery, dentistry and preventative medicine. In 2023, along with her husband and son, she returned home to Brownsville, Texas. In 2024, she purchased All Creatures Family Veterinary Hospital from Dr. Garcia-Camacho and transformed it into McAllen Urgent Vet with the goal of aiding the growing need of urgent care in the valley.
Dr. Martinez is an advocate for animals in need in our community and is always looking for ways to help. Together with a group of friends that share her same goals and vision to improve the quality of pet care in our community, they started Amigos of BARCC, a non profit organization serving the Brownsville animal rescue center. She currently serves as a board member and the organization’s medical officer.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and sons and her 3 poodles, Bombon, Benelli and Bernie.

Associate Veterinarian
Originally from Argyle, Texas, I earned my B.S. in Agricultural Animal Sciences from Texas State University, followed by both a M.S. in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University.
My experiences with Atlanta’s LifeLine Animal Project and the Austin Humane Society helped shape my passion for shelter medicine and making quality, affordable care accessible for all pets. I’m especially excited to partner with local organizations and contribute to spay/neuter initiatives to help reduce pet overpopulation.
Throughout my academic journey, I’ve always loved teaching—whether it was serving as a chemistry lab instructor and tutor during undergrad or helping fellow vet students as an anatomy TA. That same passion for education fuels my commitment to helping pet owners better understand their animals’ health and needs.
In my free time, you can find me reading, gaming, or spending time with my husband and our beloved cats. I’m thrilled to explore the RGV and connect with the amazing people and pets in our community!
